Ms. I's 8th Grade Social Studies Syllabus
Course Description:
Students will study the purposes, principles, and practices of American government as established by the Constitution. Through their 8th grade year, students will develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens and how to exercise these rights and responsibilities in local, state, and national government.

Student Expectations:
My expectations for all students are as followed:
1. They keep track of their grades & assignments
2. They start work on time & follow suggested timelines
3. When in doubt, they ask questions
4. They do their own work
5. They turn in their work on time
6. They accept responsibility for their own leadership
7.They always give 100% effort
Classroom Rules:
1. Look for solutions, not for blame
2. Respect your classroom (digital or physical) & those in it.
3. Be Involved in your Education
4. Honor commitments
5. Refrain from disrupting the learning environment.
Daily Classroom Procedures:
Bell work:
Scholars will always have bell work to complete as the enter the classroom (digitally or physically)
Agenda/Assignment:
Daily Assignments will be posted on this website, it is student's responsibilities to check due dates and to keep track of due dates via planner or calendar.
Daily Lesson:
Scholars will always have an objective posted as they enter the classroom. This is describe the daily lesson. My lesson style and topic for Social Studies will vary from day to day.
Exit Tickets:
There will always be an exit tickets for each class session. Students will be graded for completion of exit tickets.
Online Classroom Rules: 1. Find a quiet place, free from distractions (i.e. siblings, pets, parents, televisions, video games) that you feel comfortable learning in
2. Camera must remain ON during Zoom sessions
3. Mics should remain OFF unless instructed otherwise
4. Respect your classmates and teachers time by avoiding distracting behavior
5. Responsible Use of the Chat
6. Utilize Non-Verbal Functions in Zoom
Grading Policies:
Grades are based on the A-F percentage scale. Students will be graded on the following assignments:
*Interactive Notebook Pages
*AZ Civics Test Practice
*Inquiry Based Projects
*I search Papers
*Unit Assessment
* Attendance Logs
Tests & Quizzes:
*Chapter Tests
*Unit Assessments
*AZ Civics Test Practice
